In Luke 7:48-50, Jesus turned to the woman and He said to her, “your sins are forgiven.” This woman has just entered eternal life because of her faith in the sacrifice and forgiveness of Jesus Christ. “Those who sat at the meal with Him began to say within themselves, who is this and forgives sins?” They should have concluded, “Only God can forgive sins; this must be God,” but they didn’t. Then He said to the woman, “your faith has saved you.” Sins forgiven — that's the negative side of salvation. Your faith saving you — that's the positive side of salvation. And then He says, “Go in peace.” Where does peace come from? In Romans 5:1-5, “... having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." And why is that? He tells us down in verse five, “...because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit.”
